Gillean House offers the ultimate space for those seeking a relaxing and very special family holiday.
Recently upgraded, this large beachfront house provides well appointed and spacious modern living whilst retaining the charm of the original 1803 croft house.
Nestled in a peaceful hamlet on the Sleat Pennisula, Gillean House boasts incredible sea and mountain views, including the iconic Cuillin Range. A charming and expansive garden provides easy access to the beach as well as surrounding hills.
Gillean House has been recently renovated and provides modern spacious accommodation for 6 guests whilst retaining wonderful characteristics of its 200 year heritage. Gillean or Gillen House, was built in 1803 by Dr. Alasdair MacDonald. The house was known for its many ceilidhs and dances. There is historical information about the house at the Armadale Museum.
Here's a short video created for us by one of our recent guests, who described the sunsets as "unreal", so he just had to get the drone out!
What recent guests have been saying about Gillean House.
The location of the stay was more than words can describe.. in one word “superb”… such beautiful landscape and backdrop, we just loved sitting in the rooms and gazing at the beauty of nature.

This is a lovely house in a beautiful and peaceful setting. There are gorgeous views of the water and sheep fields out the bedroom and kitchen windows. You can walk quite far out from the beach at low tide and there are beautiful sunsets when the clouds cooperate. There is a large well-equipped kitchen and plenty of space for our group of 6.
You have to plan shopping, meals and touring carefully due to the remoteness of the house but we were aware of that in advance. The house is close to the ferry. Our ferry off the island got cancelled because the ferry size changed but luckily they were able to fit us on anyway.
This is a beautiful house and we would definitely recommend it.
We had an amazing 3-night stay on the Isle of Skye! The property was perfect for our group of 6 friends—clean, cozy, and well-equipped with everything we needed. The location was stunning and made a great base for exploring the island. A private beach on our door step made watching the sunrise a true trip to remember. Our host was friendly and responsive, making check-in and communication super easy. Would definitely recommend and love to come back!
